Dear Readers,
Trusting your feelings is essential—if you feel bad around someone, it's a sign that something is wrong.
✨ Why Are Women with ADHD Vulnerable? ✨
As an ADHD woman, you likely often don’t trust your feelings and want to be liked. This can be misinterpreted as weakness, making you more susceptible to bullying in personal places and the workplace.
Let’s break down why this happens and how to trust ourselves to handle it.
📊 Bullying Statistics 📊
At Work: Around 30% of employees report being bullied at work. Women with ADHD are particularly vulnerable due to their unique challenges.
ADHD Kids Being Bullied: Children with ADHD are more than twice as likely to be bullied compared to their peers. About 50-60% of kids with ADHD experience bullying.
Personal Relationships: Adults with ADHD are at a higher risk of experiencing emotional and physical abuse. Nearly 40% report being in abusive relationships.
🔍 Know What Bullying Is 🔍
Bullying can take many forms:
At Work:
Unfair criticism,
Being singled out or excluded
Having your contributions consistently undervalued or stolen.
In Personal Relationships:
Derogatory comments
Manipulation
Behavior that strips away your sense of independence or self-esteem or leaves you doubting your worth or sanity.
💪 What to Do If You Recognize Bullying 💪
Acknowledge the Behavior: Recognize that what you’re experiencing is not okay.
Trust Your Feelings: Your feelings are your compass. If you feel bad around certain people, trust that instinct.
Seek Support: Talk to trusted friends, family, or professionals who can offer advice and support. Don’t stay silent.
Set Boundaries: Clearly define what is unacceptable and communicate these boundaries assertively. If necessary, get professional help, especially if this is an interpersonal relationship and violence is involved.
Remember, your emotions are there to guide you and protect you. They exist to help us survive and make decisions.
You deserve respect in all your relationships. 🌸
Warm regards,
Kristen McClure
