ADHD women struggle with self-trust.
You are taught to doubt yourself, rely on outside validation, and please others to gain acceptance and feel good about yourself. Over time, this erodes confidence in your self-judgment.
To build self-trust, you must do the opposite. Focus on setting boundaries, honoring your needs and limits, practicing self-compassion, and asking for what you need.
What It Is
A Self-Trust Jar (or a notebook, or voice notes on your phone) is where you collect proof that you backed yourself and made choices that were not based on perfection, performance, or people pleasing.
Grab an empty sauce jar, a small box, or a notes app.
Each time you honor a boundary, ask for what you need, or choose rest over pressure, jot one line on a scrap of paper (or type a quick note).
Drop it in the jar. Done.
Bonus: Let kids make their own jar, especially if you have neurodivergent daughters.
Make sure to focus on things like:
Setting a boundary
Choosing rest over perfection
Asking for what you need
Speaking to yourself with kindness

Try It Today
Note one self-honoring choiceโon paper, your phone, or as a voice memo. At the end of the week, take a moment to read or listen back. Notice the pattern. Thatโs your self-trust, growing one choice at a time!
Why It Matters So Much
Research shows that building self-trust strengthens self-esteem, resilience, and overall well-being. ADHD women often face lower self-esteem and chronic self-doubt due to forced masking and societal expectations. Working on reclaiming self-trust can be especially powerful.
Practices like setting boundaries, choosing rest, and honoring your needs help reinforce the belief that you can rely on yourself. Your confidence grows as you start to listen to that internal voice.

I love this idea! It's a quick simple way to capture positive tho'ts about myself and embed them in my brain instead of all the negative stuff I tell myself and hear. Thank you!
